How to PRINT a PDF sewing pattern - Step by Step guide
Recommended Materials and Yardage Required
1. Main Fabrics
❖ Cotton Twill (180–220 gsm) – Durable, holds its shape well, yet breathable. Perfect for structured
jumpsuits with defined shoulders.
❖ Linen-Cotton Blend (160–200 gsm) – Natural texture, breathable, and softens over time. Great for
a relaxed yet tailored summer look.
❖ Tencel Twill / Lyocell Twill (170–210 gsm) – Soft, eco-friendly, with a fluid drape but still
structured enough for this style. Comfortable and slightly dressy.
❖ Cotton Sateen (150–180 gsm) – Smooth, with a subtle sheen. Ideal if you want a polished, more
elegant version.
❖ Chambray (120–160 gsm) – Lightweight, breathable, denim-like but softer. Perfect for a casual
daytime version.
2. Fabrics for a More Refined / Elegant Look
❖ Crepe (Polyester or Viscose, 160–200 gsm) – Fluid drape, sophisticated finish. Works well for a
jumpsuit suitable for events.
❖ Lightweight Gabardine (180–220 gsm) – Crisp and structured with a polished tailored look, while
still comfortable.
3. Lining (for Bodice Only)
❖ Cotton Voile / Batiste (70–100 gsm) – Lightweight, breathable, perfect for summer wear.
❖ Viscose Lining (80–100 gsm) – Smooth and comfortable, helps the garment slip on easily.
❖ Silk Habotai (50–80 gsm) – Luxurious, ideal for a refined interior finish.

✓ Tools and Threads:
Ensure you have essential tools like a ruler, tape measure, and spools of thread that match your fabric. For
stretch knit fabrics, textured polyester or textured nylon threads are commonly recommended. These threads are ideal for overedge and cover stitch seams due to their excellent seam coverage and elasticity, helping toprevent popped seams. Additional tools you'll need include scissors or a rotary cutter, an iron, and clips or
pins.
✓ Sewing Machines:
Our go-to sewing machine is the Janome DC3050, which handles straight stitches, buttonholes, and
decorative stitches with ease. It also features multiple zigzag stitch options, making it a great alternative to
an overlock machine for finishing edges. For specialized tasks, we rely on the Janome MyLock 644D for
overlock stitches and the Janome CoverPro II for cover stitches. For embroidery projects, the Janome
